PROTEST

England today is marked by deep social and political divisions — over class, race, immigration, economic inequality, climate action, gender rights, and more. Protest movements have become powerful expressions of frustration and hope, but they often exist in silos, fighting different battles.

This project is important because it attempts to cut through those silos and uncover something deeper: a shared discontent, and perhaps, a shared vision for something better. By asking protestors from all walks of life the same set of questions, you highlight common threads beneath different movements. That in itself is powerful — it can spark empathy, build bridges, and remind people that they are not alone in wanting change.

This isn't about forcing unity — it's about listening for it, even across lines of difference. In a time when political narratives often thrive on division, your project chooses to seek connection instead.

‘Noisy Neighbours’ | 2025 | MADEbyKid

I attended a protest—one for Palestine, one for England—and asked people on both sides the same question:

Does this government represent you?

Everyone said no.

One man said, “They’re noisy, we’re noisy.”

(In regards to both protests)

and it made me think.

How much louder—and more effective—would our voices be if they were directed together, rather than at each other?

Isn’t there greater change to be made by transforming what we already control? The first step is understanding who ‘we’ actually are. Because if we are divided into I and you, then they win. They know exactly who they are. We don’t. And that confusion is where exploitation thrives.

We are those being killed, starved, and displaced. They are the ones killing, starving, and displacing. Wake up. Recognise who we are—because we hold the power.

Until we do, we’ll keep shouting over each other instead of becoming a voice loud and unified enough to be heard—one capable of building change from the ground up, not handed down from above. A place it will most likely never come from if we continue down this divided path that leaves us vulnerable and continually exploited.

ENDLESS FINGERS ON THE SAME HAND FORM THE STRONGEST ARM OF RESISTANCE.

SEE YOURSELF IN EVERYONE AND IF EVERYONE DID WHAT WOULD THE WORLD LOOK LIKE?
