Acknowledging the Parallels: Free Palestine and Free Iran

The struggle for freedom in Palestine and Iran is deeply interconnected, shaped by forces that seek to exploit and divide. Zionist extremism, driven by a desire for a Greater Israel, brings displacement and genocide to the Palestinian people. Their dependence on international powers—those who can bring change—becomes a matter of survival amid ongoing occupation and violence. Meanwhile, Iranian citizens endure tragedy under extreme Islamist rule, facing repression and hardship. Like the Palestinians, they depend on those outside their borders—particularly the US and Israel—to help them break free from tyranny, since no one else seems willing or able to do so.

Israel’s expansionist ambitions aim to carve out more land, driven by a desire for dominance in the Middle East. The US’s interest in oil—evident in its history with Venezuela—underscores a pattern of prioritising resource control over genuine humanitarian concern. Civil unrest and corruption breed desperation, creating a climate where heroes are desperately needed—heroes like America and Israel—who promise salvation but often deliver exploitation.

When these nations step in during moments of crisis, they may temporarily alleviate suffering, but in the long run, they often deepen dependence and erode sovereignty. Those they claim to help become increasingly exploited, losing control over their own futures.

I believe in a future where both Palestine and Iran are free—not just from external domination, but from internal extremism and oppression. A Palestine free of displacement, where the Zionist occupation ends and Palestinian sovereignty is restored. An Iran free of Islamic extremism, where the voices of its people are heard and respected.

We must not oppose each other's struggles. Instead, we must recognise what they are and who they are affecting. The Palestinian and Iranian peoples are suffering at the hands of oppressive regimes and external powers—while those who claim to help often end up exploiting and controlling them further. We are the ones dying, the ones bearing the scars of injustice. They are the ones causing the pain.

Let us stand in solidarity across these struggles, united in the belief that freedom, justice, and sovereignty belong to all oppressed peoples. Only then can we truly break the cycle of exploitation and build a future rooted in equality and dignity.
